🌍 United for Climate Justice: SMI supports key Church demands for COP30

“There is no peace without climate justice – no future without ecological conversion.”

With these words, the Catholic Bishops' Conferences of Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean call for a profound transformation in their June 2025 document for COP30. As Starkmacher Impact GmbH (SMI), we fully support this call – and are already putting key demands into practice.

💡 What is the Church calling for?
In "A Call for Climate Justice and the Common Home" (June 2025), the bishops criticize, among other things, the financialization of nature and "green capitalism", and call for a transformation towards solidarity, a circular economy, and degrowth."

What does SMI support in concrete terms?
We share these core values:
Transformation over technocracy: Our Impact^3 model is based on fair, partnership-based financing.
Public benefit focus: Our projects deliver measurable social, ecological, and economic value.
Local ownership: After repayment, infrastructure remains in the hands of local partners.
Efficiency over overconsumption: Our projects reduce costs and resource use.

🌱 Our approach: Impact^3 & Revolving Fund
With the Impact^3 model, SMI relies on an innovative revolving fund approach: investors – whether private, corporate (CSR), or faith-based – support projects in the Global South through donations or fair loans. These projects generate savings or revenues, which are then used to repay and reinvest – creating a sustainable financing cycle with real impact.

🔄 How it works:
After careful project selection, funds are processed securely and transparently via the SMI Giving Fund on the global TrustBridge platform – including donation receipts. Implementation is handled by local SMI NGOs with partners on the ground. Repayments flow back into the local revolving fund to enable new projects.
