💼🌿📘 Tangaza University: Impact^3  in action! Sustainable energy with social, ecological and financial impact


We are pleased to announce the completion of the  first phase with the installation of 260 solar panels of our project at Tangaza University! 🚀🌞 In May 2022, we launched our vision and goals, and in June 2024, we successfully completed the installation of the photovoltaic panels on the roofs of the university.


Tangaza University College in Nairobi, Kenya, is a Catholic University college that has been offering a wide range of educational opportunities, from certificates to PhDs, since 1986. With over 2,200 students enrolled from over 50 countries and over 21,000 graduates, the university is a major educational centre. It reached another important milestone in May by obtaining the University Charter. This new achievement leads Tangaza University into a new era of service to the church and society. The installation of the solar panels is part of an effort to make the university more sustainable and ecological, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 🌱💡


“Thanks to the support of the Archdiocese of Cologne and the cooperation with Starkmacher Impact, we were able to realize this project. The photovoltaic system will enable the university to achieve significant cost savings by meeting the energy needs of the Nuru and Imani buildings. This not only contributes to the university's energy independence, but also reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 86 tons per year”. (Fr. Maganya H. Innocent, Institutional Advancement and Development Director). 🌞🌍

 

The savings can be used to buy more books and online journals, increase the scholarship fund and increase the food budget for students in need. This is a significant step in support of UN Sustainable Development Goals 4, 7 and 13, which focus on quality education, affordable and clean energy, and climate action. 📘🌐💼
