Power-to-X in Practice (Kenya): How Solar Energy Decarbonizes a Coffee Farm and Supplies a Hospital with Oxygen

At Starkmacher Impact (SMI), we invest in solutions that solve more than one problem. Together with UNIDO and the Project Development Programme (PDP) of the German Energy Solutions Initiative, implemented by GIZ, and through an innovative blended finance concept together with the @Archdiocese of Cologne, we are supporting a pioneering project at Nyeri Hill Farm in Kenya. Here, "added value" is redefined through modern sector coupling.

⚙️ The PtX Logic

Process : Solar power from a PV plant splits water into green hydrogen and oxygen via electrolysis.
X = Green Fertilizer : Hydrogen is processed into carbon-neutral ammonia on-site, making the farm 100% independent of fossil imports.
X = Medical Oxygen : The byproduct - pure oxygen - is captured to save lives at the local Consolata Hospital.

�� Why it’s Impact³: SDGs & "Laudato Si in Action"

1. Ecological: A measurable contribution to climate action and clean energy by decarbonizing agriculture.

2. Social: This is solidarity in action. It doesn't just secure the local medical oxygen supply; it serves as a Knowledge Hub for other dioceses in the Global South to utilize their own resources like sun and land to support their important work.

3. Economic: Our finance structure ensures production costs remain significantly below current and future external procurement costs. This creates independence from volatile global market prices and acts as an Impact Multiplier, allowing capital to be reinvested into our Starkmacher Impact Revolving Fund (SMIRF) for further social projects.

��️ A Blueprint for Sustainable Transformation

This Impact³ approach serves as a blueprint for the Global South. It demonstrates how "Solidarity in Action" creates economic resilience and technical know-how that can be transferred to other communities, ensuring long-term security and environmental protection.

Power-to-X in der Praxis (Kenia): Wie Solarenergie eine Kaffeefarm dekarbonisiert und ein Krankenhaus mit Sauerstoff versorgt.

Wir bei Starkmacher Impact (SMI) investieren in Lösungen, die mehr als nur ein Problem lösen. Gemeinsam mit der UNIDO und dem Projektentwicklungsprogramm (PDP) der Exportinitiative Energie , implementiert durch die GIZ, sowie durch ein innovatives Blended-Finance-Konzept zusammen mit dem Erzbistum Köln, unterstützen wir ein wegweisendes Pilotprojekt auf der Nyeri Hill Farm in Kenia. Hier wird der Begriff „Mehrwert“ durch moderne Sektorenkopplung neu definiert.

⚙️ Die PtX-Logik

Der Prozess : Mit Strom aus einer Photovoltaikanlage wird Wasser per Elektrolyse in grünen Wasserstoff und Sauerstoff gespalten.
X = Grüner Dünger : Der Wasserstoff wird vor Ort zu klimaneutralem Ammoniak verarbeitet. Das macht die Farm zu 100 % unabhängig von fossilen Importen.
X = Medizinischer Sauerstoff : Das Nebenprodukt - reiner Sauerstoff - wird aufgefangen, um im lokalen Consolata Hospital Leben zu retten.

�� Warum ist das Impact³: SDGs & „Laudato Si in Action“

1. Ökologisch: Ein messbarer Beitrag zum Klimaschutz und zur sauberen Energie durch die Dekarbonisierung der Landwirtschaft.

2. Sozial: Das ist gelebte Solidarität. Das Projekt sichert nicht nur die medizinische Grundversorgung mit Sauerstoff vor Ort, sondern dient als Bildungs-Hub für andere Diözesen im globalen Süden, um eigene Ressourcen wie Sonne und Land für ihre wichtige Arbeit zu nutzen.

3. Ökonomisch: Unsere Finanzierungsstruktur sichert Produktionskosten, die deutlich unter den heutigen und zukünftigen externen Beschaffungskosten liegen. Dies schafft Unabhängigkeit von schwankenden Weltmarktpreisen und ermöglicht es, Kapital über unseren Starkmacher Impact Revolving Fund (SMIRF) als Impact Multiplier direkt in weitere soziale Impact-Projekte zu reinvestieren.

"It's not just about money. It's about responsibility." Between financial districts and rural missions – the Starkmacher Impact team spent several weeks in India to develop sustainable financial models for church projects.

The first impression: Heat. Movement. Energy. India does not receive quietly. It demands attention. From Mumbai to Bangalore to Kochi, Kottar and Sultan Bathery, the Starkmacher Impact team was on the road for several weeks. Not as classic project auditors. But as listeners. As apprentices. As a partner at eye level.

Mumbai – When vision meets reality

Between the financial district and the street band, it quickly became clear that India thinks big. A strong impact ecosystem has developed here. Financing is not only seen as help – but as leverage.

"What impressed me is the professionalism. Impact financing is not a theoretical concept here, it is lived practice. And that's exactly what church projects around the world need."

— Frank Jungmann

In intensive discussions with financial experts and church representatives, a central question was raised: How can capital stay in the country and continue to have a sustainable effect there?

Bangalore – Church in Transition

In Bangalore, the team met with representatives of national church structures, including the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CCBI ). The talks were open and courageously self-critical. Many dioceses face similar challenges: rising costs, uncertain subsidies and growing social tasks.

Dr. Markus Gomer puts it in a nutshell:

"The Church in India thinks more entrepreneurially than many assume. It gives courage. There are ideas. What is often missing is structured financing."

Here it became clear: Revolving models are not a luxury. They become a necessity.

Kochi – The Silent Strength of Religious Communities

In Kerala, we met religious sisters and priests who have been doing educational and social work for decades. No big marketing. Not a loud performance. But impressive effect.

Mathias Kaps describes his impressions as follows:

"We are not here to distribute money. We are here to build structures that will still be sustainable in ten or twenty years."

Many communities own land or buildings. But without an economic structure, this potential remains untapped. What we felt everywhere: the deep desire for independence.

Kottar – Wind as a symbol of change

In the South of India, near the coast, the wind shifts almost continuously. Here, concrete projects in the field of renewable energies were discussed. Wind power, infrastructure, income models.

It wasn't just about technology. It was about the future. "Sustainability here means in concrete terms: lower costs, stable revenues and more scope for pastoral work," says Frank Jungmann

Sultan Bathery – Hope in Rural Areas

In rural Kerala, the church shows itself to be the backbone of the community. Here, every investment counts twice. Because:

If a project works, a school remains open.
When energy becomes cheaper, a health center remains stable.
If structures are sustainable, a region remains capable of acting.

More than a trip

These weeks in India were not just a project review. They were a dialogue about responsibility.

"We are experiencing a decline in subsidies worldwide. The future belongs to models that preserve capital and multiply impact," says Markus Gomer .

Mathias Kaps adds: "The church does not have to be poor to be credible. But it must use resources responsibly. That's exactly what it's all about."

The summary of the trip:

India has shown us that faith and entrepreneurship are not mutually exclusive. On the contrary, they can strengthen each other.

What remains? Encounters. Trust. And the conviction that sustainable financing is not a technical issue. It's a question of attitude.

„Es geht nicht nur um Geld. Es geht um Verantwortung.“ Zwischen Finanzdistrikten und ländlichen Missionen – das Team von Starkmacher Impact war mehrere Wochen in Indien unterwegs, um nachhaltige Finanzmodelle für kirchliche Projekte zu entwickeln.

Der erste Eindruck: Hitze. Bewegung. Energie. Indien empfängt nicht leise. Es fordert Aufmerksamkeit. Von Mumbai über Bangalore bis nach Kochi, Kottar und Sultan Bathery war das Team von Starkmacher Impact mehrere Wochen unterwegs. Nicht als klassische Projektprüfer. Sondern als Zuhörer. Als Lernende. Als Partner auf Augenhöhe.

Mumbai – Wenn Vision auf Realität trifft

Zwischen Finanzdistrikt und Straßenkapelle wurde schnell klar: Indien denkt groß. Hier hat sich ein starkes Impact-Ökosystem entwickelt. Finanzierung wird nicht nur als Hilfe verstanden – sondern als Hebel.

„Was mich beeindruckt hat, ist die Professionalität. Impact-Finanzierung ist hier kein theoretisches Konzept, sie ist gelebte Praxis. Und genau das brauchen kirchliche Projekte weltweit.“

In intensiven Gesprächen mit Finanzexperten und kirchlichen Vertretern stand eine zentrale Frage im Raum: Wie kann Kapital im Land bleiben und dort nachhaltig weiterwirken?

Bangalore – Kirche im Wandel

In Bangalore traf das Team Vertreter der nationalen kirchlichen Strukturen, darunter die   Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CCBI) . Die Gespräche waren offen und mutig selbstkritisch. Viele Diözesen stehen vor ähnlichen Herausforderungen: steigende Kosten, unsichere Zuschüsse und wachsende soziale Aufgaben.

Dr. Markus Gomer   bringt es auf den Punkt:

„Die Kirche in Indien denkt unternehmerischer, als viele vermuten. Es gibt Mut. Es gibt Ideen. Was oft fehlt, ist die strukturierte Finanzierung.“

Hier wurde deutlich: Revolvierende Modelle sind kein Luxus. Sie werden zur Notwendigkeit.

Kochi – Die stille Stärke der Ordensgemeinschaften

In Kerala trafen wir Ordensschwestern und Priester, die seit Jahrzehnten Bildungs- und Sozialarbeit leisten. Kein großes Marketing. Kein lauter Auftritt. Aber beeindruckende Wirkung.

Mathias Kaps beschreibt seine Eindrücke so:

„Wir sind nicht hier, um Geld zu verteilen. Wir sind hier, um Strukturen aufzubauen, die auch in zehn oder zwanzig Jahren noch tragen.“

Viele Gemeinschaften besitzen Grundstücke oder Gebäude. Doch ohne wirtschaftliche Struktur bleiben diese Potenziale ungenutzt. Was wir überall gespürt haben: Den tiefen Wunsch nach Eigenständigkeit.

Kottar – Wind als Symbol für Veränderung

Im Süden Indiens, nahe der Küste, dreht sich der Wind fast ununterbrochen. Hier wurden konkrete Projekte im Bereich erneuerbare Energien diskutiert. Windkraft, Infrastruktur, Einkommensmodelle.

Es ging nicht nur um Technik. Es ging um Zukunft. „Nachhaltigkeit bedeutet hier ganz konkret: geringere Kosten, stabile Einnahmen und mehr Spielraum für pastorale Arbeit“, so Frank Jungmann

Sultan Bathery – Hoffnung im ländlichen Raum

Im ländlichen Kerala zeigt sich Kirche als Rückgrat der Gemeinschaft. Hier zählt jede Investition doppelt. Denn:

Wenn ein Projekt funktioniert, bleibt eine Schule offen.
Wenn Energie günstiger wird, bleibt ein Gesundheitszentrum stabil.
Wenn Strukturen tragen, bleibt eine Region handlungsfähig.

Mehr als eine Reise

Diese Wochen in Indien waren keine reine Projektprüfung. Sie waren ein Dialog über Verantwortung.

„Wir erleben weltweit, dass Zuschüsse zurückgehen. Die Zukunft gehört Modellen, die Kapital erhalten und Wirkung multiplizieren“, so Markus Gomer .

Mathias Kaps ergänzt: „Kirche muss nicht arm sein, um glaubwürdig zu sein. Aber sie muss verantwortungsvoll mit Ressourcen umgehen. Genau darum geht es.“

Das Resümee der Reise:

Indien hat uns gezeigt, dass Glaube und unternehmerisches Denken sich nicht ausschließen. Im Gegenteil: Sie können sich gegenseitig stärken.

Was bleibt? Begegnungen. Vertrauen. Und die Überzeugung, dass nachhaltige Finanzierung keine technische Frage ist. Sondern eine Frage der Haltung.

Erasmus+ Update: Successful Knowledge Exchange in Budapest

Our "Values-Based ESG Business Model Innovation" project continues to gain momentum. At the recent network meeting in Hungary, the spotlight was on practical solutions for impact investing and sustainable corporate governance.

As part of our ongoing Erasmus+ project, the conference "IMPACT MORNING – Impact & ESG" took place in Budapest on 13 January 2026 . As part of an international consortium, we used this platform to deepen the dialogue between ESG experts , investors , and advisors across borders and to communicate the content and experiences of our Erasmus+ project.

A morning full of impulses

The event, hosted by STRT Holding and organized by Proactive Management Consulting (PMC), offered a dense agenda on the core issues of modern economic transformation:

Strategic leadership: Dr. Tibor Héjj ( PMC , HU) opened the session with a keynote on how ESG must be understood as a strategic management tool and not just as a compliance checklist.

Innovative models: In specialist lectures ere presented by, Dr. Markus R e ssl ( Ressolutions GmbH , AT) Frank Jungmann ( Starkmacher Impact GmbH , DE) and Jean Marc Ziadé ( Stichting Mariapoli Marienkroon , NL). The focus was on the importance of Values-Based ESG Business Model Innovation. The experts demonstrated how companies can make their business models fit for the future by consciously integrating values and ESG principles and integrate ecological and social challenges directly into their core value creation.

Technology & Responsibility: A lively panel discussion, which was also attended by Frank Jungmann from Starkmacher Impact, shed light on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in decision-making and how ESG innovations in business model design can support social responsibility.

�� Why this exchange counts

With around 50 participants on site, one thing became clear: "Impact investing does not work without real know-how regarding SMEs and ESG business modeling." For our economy to become sustainable, financial decisions and sustainable business models must go hand in hand.

" The high level of participation and the depth of the professional exchange in Budapest confirm how relevant our project work is for practice."

Through the cooperation of our Erasmus+ partner network with participants from Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Hungary, we ensure that the training materials developed - from manuals to interactive learning formats - reach directly where they are needed: with the managers of tomorrow.

Erasmus+ Update: Erfolgreicher Wissensaustausch in Budapest

Unser Projekt „Values-Based ESG Business Model Innovation“ nimmt weiter Fahrt auf. Beim jüngsten Netzwerktreffen in Ungarn standen praxisnahe Lösungen für Impact Investing und nachhaltige Unternehmensführung im Rampenlicht.

Im Rahmen unseres laufenden Erasmus+ Projekts fand am  13. Januar 2026  in Budapest die Fachkonferenz "IMPACT MORNING – Impact & ESG"   statt. Als Teil eines internationalen Konsortiums nutzten wir diese Plattform, um den Dialog zwischen ESG-Expert* innen, Investor* innen und Berater*innen über die Grenzen hinweg zu vertiefen und die Inhalte und Erfahrungen unseres Erasmus+ Projektes zu kommunizieren.

Ein Vormittag voller Impulse

Die Veranstaltung, gehostet von der  STRT Holding   und organisiert von  Proactive Management Consulting (PMC) , bot eine dichte Agenda zu den Kernfragen moderner Wirtschaftstransformation:

Strategische Führung:  Dr. Tibor Héjj ( PMC , HU) eröffnete die Session mit einer Keynote darüber, wie ESG als strategisches Führungsinstrument und nicht nur als Compliance-Checkliste verstanden werden muss.

Technologie & Verantwortung:  Eine lebhafte Podiumsdiskussion, an der auch Frank Jungmann von Starkmacher Impact teilnahm, beleuchtete die Rolle von Künstlicher Intelligenz (KI) bei der Entscheidungsfindung und wie ESG-Innovationen im Business Model Design soziale Verantwortung unterstützen können.

�� Warum dieser Austausch zählt

Mit rund 50 Teilnehmenden vor Ort wurde eines deutlich:  „Impact Investing funktioniert nicht ohne echtes Know-How bezüglich KMU und ESG Business Modelling.“  Damit unsere Wirtschaft nachhaltig wird, müssen Finanzentscheidungen und nachhaltige Geschäftsmodelle Hand in Hand gehen.

„ Die hohe Beteiligung und die Tiefe des fachlichen Austauschs in Budapest bestätigen, wie relevant unsere Projektarbeit für die Praxis ist.“

Durch die Zusammenarbeit unseres Erasmus+ Partnernetzwerks mit Teilnehmern aus Deutschland, Österreich, den Niederlanden und Ungarn stellen wir sicher, dass die entwickelten Schulungsmaterialien - von Handbüchern bis zu interaktiven Lernformaten - direkt dort ankommen, wo sie gebraucht werden: bei den Führungskräften von morgen.

Starkmacher Impact in Washington, D.C. - A Strong Signal for Global Church Financing

Washington, D.C., November 2025

Mathias Kaps, CEO of Starkmacher Impact (SMI), participated in the international Integrated Capital & Global Church Summit hosted by the Francesco Collaborative. The meeting brought together leading voices from philanthropy, the Church, impact investing, and global development – with a common focus: How can we mobilize mission-aligned capital that has a long-term effect?

Mathias presented the Starkmacher Impact Revolving Fund (SMIRF) model, an innovative approach that converts donations and interest-free or low-interest loans into local, self-replenishing Revolving Funds. This model enables dioceses, religious orders, and NGOs in the Global South to implement long-term income-generating and solar projects, reduce debt, and build sustainable structures.

The response in Washington was very positive:

Strengthening East Africa: Strategic Progress in Kenya

Our recent visit to Kenya reaffirmed our commitment to sustainable development and impactful partnerships. The trip combined project reviews, exploration of new opportunities, and strategic networking to accelerate our mission in East Africa.

�� Project Highlights
In Nairobi, we visited Mariapolis Piero, where our solar car park powers the entire site and will soon support a new primary school opening in 2026. At Tangaza University Campus, we reviewed the installed solar system powering multiple buildings across the growing campus.

We also met the Nyeri Archdiocese team, finalizing a large photovoltaic system that will supply energy to hospitals and diocesan facilities. In Eldoret, progress on the St. John’s Amani Centre commercial building was confirmed, while in Mombasa, discussions focused on future social impact projects and cooperation opportunities.

�� Future Opportunities
Across all locations, we explored innovative ideas in:

Solar Power for energy independence and cost efficiency
Green Hydrogen & Co-Products , including oxygen for medical facilities and green ammonia for fertilizer production
Sustainable Agriculture & Circular Economy , such as hydroponics, agri-photovoltaics, waste-to-energy, and biogas solutions.

These projects share a common goal: meeting our Impact^3 standards by focusing on capacity building and income generation. Creating long-term revenue streams to fund pastoral activities and strengthen local communities remains a top priority.

We deepened collaboration with key institutions, including GIZ, SEforAll, and Strathmore University, to advance high-impact initiatives across East Africa. These alliances are essential for scaling solutions that combine economic viability with social impact.

Stärkung Ostafrikas: Strategische Fortschritte in Kenia

Unser jüngster Besuch in Kenia bekräftigte unser Engagement für nachhaltige Entwicklung und wirkungsvolle Partnerschaften. Die Reise umfasste die Überprüfung bestehender Projekte, die Erkundung neuer Möglichkeiten und strategische Vernetzung, um unsere Mission in Ostafrika zu beschleunigen.

�� Projekthighlights

In Nairobi besuchten wir die Mariapolis Piero, wo unser Solar-Carport den gesamten Standort mit Strom versorgt und bald auch eine neue Grundschule unterstützen wird, die 2026 eröffnet. Auf dem Campus der Tangaza University besichtigten wir die installierte Solaranlage, die mehrere Gebäude auf dem wachsenden Campus mit Energie versorgt.

Wir trafen auch das Team der Erzdiözese Nyeri, das gerade dabei ist, ein großes Photovoltaiksystem fertigzustellen, welches Krankenhäuser und diözesane Einrichtungen mit Energie beliefern wird. In Eldoret wurde der Fortschritt beim Gewerbegebäude des St. John’s Amani Centre bestätigt, während sich die Gespräche in Mombasa auf zukünftige soziale Wirkungsprojekte und Kooperationsmöglichkeiten konzentrierten.

An allen Standorten haben wir innovative Ideen in folgenden Bereichen erkundet:

Loppiano (Italy), May 23, 2025 – At the international congress  “Integral Development of Humanity – Concepts and Perspectives”  held at the Sophia University Institute near Florence, Mathias Kaps, founder of Starkmacher Impact, presented a forward-thinking financing model: the Starkmacher Impact Revolving Fund (SMIRF).

This model introduces a novel approach: it provides interest-free or low-interest loans for projects in the fields of solar energy ☀️, sustainable agriculture ��, and social infrastructure – with the goal of reinvesting returns locally and creating a self-sustaining financing cycle. In doing so, it reduces long-term dependency on external funding and strengthens local autonomy.

Three key aspects of the model were particularly emphasized:

Innovative impact measurement: SMIRF links financial returns with measurable social and environmental outcomes – setting a new standard for impact-driven investment.
Strengthening local resilience: By supporting income-generating initiatives, local communities are empowered to develop economic independence and ecological sustainability.
Scalability and global applicability: Initial projects in Brazil, Kenya, Egypt, Rwanda, and the Philippines demonstrate how the model can be flexibly adapted to diverse contexts.

One example: In Brazil, SMIRF enabled the installation of 1,300 solar panels across three community centers – an investment of over €800,000 that saves more than 300 tons of CO₂ annually. In Kenya, a solar-powered carport supports community activities, while in the Philippines, a carpentry training center secured jobs through a solar energy system.

“SMIRF invites us to rethink not only financing, but also our understanding of development – in the spirit of shared responsibility and the common good,” said Mathias Kaps in his presentation.

Strengthening East Africa: Project Visits in Rwanda & Uganda Boost Sustainable Development

Our recent trip to Rwanda and Uganda was marked by intensive project visits, new partnerships, and a shared vision: unlocking local potential and creating structures that deliver impact—economically, socially, and pastorally.

�� Rwanda: Progress in Musanze

In Rwanda, we visited a construction project initiated by the Diocese of Ruhengeri in Musanze: a five-story, commercially usable building on church land. The goal: Generating long-term income to fund pastoral activities. The project is fully financed, on schedule, and serves as a role-model for sustainable local initiatives. The new building will create jobs, employ innovative construction methods, and establish an urban space that strengthens local businesses while providing essential services.

Further discussions led us to the Diocese of Byumba, where ideas for utilizing existing infrastructure for a guesthouse and hostel were refined. The business model aims for a self-sustaining system that attracts guests while fostering local development.

�� Uganda: Collaboration with Perspective

In Uganda, strategic talks focused on investments in agricultural and artisanal infrastructure—from coffee farming to carpentry workshops and office properties.

A particularly impactful meeting was with Archbishop Lambert Bainomugisha in Mbarara. He stated:

��️ “This model of collaboration and partnership with sister churches in the Global North is very empowering… We need projects that are self-sustaining. With your (ed. note: strengthening impact) support, we can go very far to build a church that empowers not only the institution, but also the communities.”

Social institutions like the Zia Angelina Health Centre in Namugongo also left a strong impression: it serves over 5,000 people annually but faces challenges after USAID's withdrawal. Photovoltaic solutions could help reduce energy costs and enable new financing models.

This trip proves: impactful projects emerge from genuine partnership.

Unsere jüngste Reise nach Ruanda und Uganda war geprägt von intensiven Projektbesuchen, neuen Partnerschaften und einer gemeinsamen Vision: lokales Potenzial entfalten und Strukturen schaffen, die wirken – wirtschaftlich, sozial und pastoral.

�� Ruanda: Fortschritt in Musanze

In Ruanda besuchten wir das von der Diözese Ruhengeri initiierte Bauprojekt in Musanze: ein fünfstöckiges, kommerziell nutzbares Gebäude auf kirchlichem Land. Das Ziel: dauerhafte Einnahmen zur Finanzierung pastoraler Aktivitäten. Das Projekt ist vollständig finanziert, im Zeitplan und steht exemplarisch für nachhaltige Eigeninitiativen. Durch den Neubau entstehen Arbeitsplätze, innovative Bauverfahren werden angewandt, und es wird ein städtischer Raum geschaffen, der lokale Unternehmen stärkt und wichtige Dienste zugänglich macht.

Weitere Gespräche führten uns zur Diözese Byumba, wo Ideen zur Nutzung vorhandener Infrastruktur für ein Begegnungshaus mit Hostelbetrieb konkretisiert wurden. Das Geschäftsmodell zielt auf ein selbsttragendes System , das sowohl Gäste anspricht als auch lokale Entwicklung fördert.

�� Uganda: Zusammenarbeit mit Perspektive

In Uganda standen strategische Gespräche zu Investitionen in landwirtschaftliche und handwerkliche Infrastrukturen im Vordergrund – vom Kaffeeanbau über Tischlereien bis hin zu Büroimmobilien.

Besonders eindrücklich war unser Treffen mit Erzbischof Lambert Bainomugisha in Mbarara. Er sagte:

��️ Dieses Modell der Zusammenarbeit und Partnerschaft mit Schwesterkirchen im globalen Norden ist sehr bestärkend… Wir brauchen Projekte, die selbsttragend sind. Mit Ihrer (red. Anm.: Starkmachender Impact) Unterstützung können wir sehr weit gehen, um eine Kirche aufzubauen, die nicht nur die Institution, sondern auch die Gemeinden stärkt

Auch soziale Einrichtungen wie das Zia Angelina Health Centre in Namugongo beeindruckten: Es versorgt jährlich über 5.000 Menschen, steht aber durch den Rückzug von USAID vor Herausforderungen. Focolare Carpentry Manila: Sustainability meets social responsibility through solar energy

Focolare Carpentry Manila, our long-standing partner project, has taken a significant step towards a sustainable future. The training and production facility for disadvantaged young people in Manila is now supplied by a state-of-the-art photovoltaic system with an output of 95.7 kWp. This project marks a turning point in the development of social operations and underlines our shared commitment to environmental and social responsibility.

Background and implementation

The installation of the solar system, consisting of 174 solar panels, was made possible by the generous support of the Archdiocese of Cologne and the professional support of Starkmacher Impact. The plant produces about 121,000 kWh of clean electricity annually, which covers 84% of Focolare Carpentry's previous energy consumption. This measure leads to considerable annual cost savings, which are reinvested directly in the further development of the company and the training of the young people.

Focolare Carpentry Manila: Nachhaltigkeit trifft soziale Verantwortung durch Solarenergie

Focolare Carpentry Manila, unser langjähriges Partnerprojekt, hat einen bedeutenden Schritt in Richtung nachhaltiger Zukunft unternommen. Die Ausbildungs- und Produktionsstätte für benachteiligte Jugendliche in Manila wird nun durch eine hochmoderne Photovoltaikanlage mit einer Leistung von 95,7 kWp versorgt. Dieses Projekt markiert einen Wendepunkt in der Entwicklung des sozialen Betriebs und unterstreicht unser gemeinsames Engagement für ökologische und soziale Verantwortung.

Hintergrund und Umsetzung

Die Installation der Solaranlage, bestehend aus 174 Solarpaneelen, wurde durch die großzügige Unterstützung der Erzdiözese Köln und die fachliche Begleitung von Starkmacher Impact ermöglicht. Die Anlage produziert jährlich etwa 121.000 kWh sauberen Strom, was 84% des bisherigen Energieverbrauchs von Focolare Carpentry deckt. Diese Maßnahme führt zu einer erheblichen jährlichen Kostenersparnis, die direkt in die Weiterentwicklung des Betriebs und die Ausbildung der Jugendlichen reinvestiert wird.

Kenya: Solar Power for Mariapolis Piero: Photovoltaic System Launched Thanks to Strong Partnership!

With great joy, we can announce that the new photovoltaic system at Mariapolis Piero in Kenya has been operational since early March! And the special thing: The solar system was built as a carport, which fulfills several functions at once.

�� The system fully covers the current energy needs of Mariapolis and, with a 40 kWh battery storage, ensures a secure supply even during power outages.

�� Additionally, the carport offers charging options for two electric cars – an important step towards sustainable mobility.

�� The covered area also provides welcome shade for events and celebrations – a real enrichment for community life on site.

�� The investment will fully pay off in just four years. The project was made possible by a loan from the Archdiocese of Cologne – a strong sign of solidarity and sustainable development.

��️ What is Mariapolis Piero? Mariapolis Piero is a small town of the Focolare Movement in Kenya – a place of lived dialogue between cultures and religions.

�� What happens with the savings? The financial savings from switching to renewable energy compared to traditional energy sources flow directly into educational projects, workshops, and social initiatives that benefit the people in the region. The full repayment of the investment flows into our 'Revolving Fund' in Kenya. This fund is used to finance new social and ecological projects in the future.

�� Why Starkmacher Impact? Starkmacher Impact has been accompanying the project from the beginning as an initiator, advisor, and link between the partners. We bring our experience in project management and the development of sustainable solutions and ensure that the technical implementation, financing, and long-term impact of the project go hand in hand. Our goal is to promote sustainable development projects with social added value – just like here in Mariapolis Piero.

Mit großer Freude können wir mitteilen, dass die neue Photovoltaikanlage der Mariapolis Piero in Kenia seit Anfang März in Betrieb ist! Und das Besondere: Die Solaranlage wurde als Carport gebaut, der gleich mehrere Funktionen erfüllt.

�� Die Anlage deckt den aktuellen Energiebedarf der Mariapolis vollständig und sorgt mit einem Batteriespeicher von 40 kWh auch bei Stromausfällen für sichere Versorgung.

�� Zusätzlich bietet der Carport Lademöglichkeiten für zwei Elektroautos – ein wichtiger Schritt hin zu nachhaltiger Mobilität.

�� Der überdachte Bereich schafft außerdem willkommenen Schatten für Veranstaltungen und Feste – eine echte Bereicherung für das Gemeinschaftsleben vor Ort.

�� Die Investition wird sich bereits in vier Jahren vollständig amortisieren. Möglich wurde das Projekt durch ein Darlehen der Erzdiözese Köln – ein starkes Zeichen für solidarische Zusammenarbeit und nachhaltige Entwicklung.

Die Mariapolis Piero ist eine kleine Stadt der Fokolar-Bewegung in Kenia – ein Ort des gelebten Dialogs zwischen Kulturen und Religionen.

�� Was passiert mit den Einsparungen?

Die finanziellen Einsparungen durch die Umstellung durch die Umstellung auf erneuerbare Energie im Vergleich zu traditionellen Energiequellen fließen direkt in Bildungsprojekte, Workshops und soziale Initiativen, die den Menschen in der Region zugutekommen. An eventful year, 2024, is drawing to a close, and we would like to take this opportunity to reflect with you our successful efforts and share a glimpse of what lies ahead in the coming year. Above all, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to all of you.

Looking Back at 2024 – A Year of Milestones

The past year has been one of growth, new social impact projects, and expanding our global engagement at Starkmacher Impact:

1. Journey to the Amazon, Óbidos
We had the opportunity to visit local communities in the Amazon region and support sustainable projects on-site. This journey reinforced the urgency of protecting natural resources and strengthening local partnerships.

2. Establishment of New SMI Hubs
Alongside our existing hub in Brazil, we successfully established new hubs in Kenya and the Philippines. These regional centers enhance our local presence and enable us to support our partners in Africa and Asia more effectively.

3. New Projects in Egypt, Rwanda, the Philippines, and Kenya

In Egypt, we launched a pioneering project in organic agriculture.
In Rwanda, we supported the construction of an office building in Ruhengeri, which will serve as a local hub for sustainable development and collaboration.
In the Philippines, we initiated a solar energy project that powers a vocational training carpentry workshop in Manila with renewable energy.
In Nairobi, Kenya, the solar installation at Tangaza University was completed, marking another milestone in advancing renewable energy for educational institutions.

4. Introduction of the Giving Fund
Together with Trust Bridge and Sinngeber, we developed a new global financing concept to explore innovative ways of supporting our projects.

Liebe Unterstützerinnen und Unterstützer, liebe Freunde von Starkmacher Impact,

ein ereignisreiches Jahr 2024 neigt sich dem Ende zu, und wir möchten diese Gelegenheit nutzen, um gemeinsam mit Ihnen auf unser erfolgreiches Wirken zurückzublicken, aber auch einen Ausblick auf das kommende Jahr zu wagen. Vor allem aber möchten wir Ihnen allen von Herzen danken.

Rückblick auf 2024 – Ein Jahr voller Meilensteine

Das vergangene Jahr war für Starkmacher Impact geprägt von Weiterentwicklung, neuen Social Impact Projekten und der Ausweitung unseres Engagements weltweit:

1. Reise in den Amazonas nach Óbidos

Wir hatten die Möglichkeit, lokale Gemeinschaften im Amazonasgebiet zu besuchen und nachhaltige Projekte vor Ort zu fördern. Diese Reise hat uns erneut die Dringlichkeit gezeigt, natürliche Ressourcen zu schützen und lokale Partnerschaften zu stärken.

2. Neugründung der SMI Niederlassungen

Neben unserem bestehenden Vereins in Brasilien konnten wir in Kenia und auf den Philippinen neue Vereine gründen. Diese regionalen Zentren ermöglichen uns eine stärkere lokale Präsenz und effektivere Unterstützung unserer Partner in Afrika und Asien.

3. Neue Projekte in Ägypten, Ruanda, Philippinen und Kenia

In Ägypten starteten wir ein wegweisendes Projekt im Bereich des ökologischen Landbaus.
In Ruanda unterstützten wir den Bau eines Bürogebäudes in Ruhengeri, das künftig als lokales Zentrum für nachhaltige Entwicklung und Zusammenarbeit dienen wird.
Auf den Philippinen initiierten wir ein Solarprojekt, das eine Ausbildungsschreinerei in Manila mit erneuerbarer Energie versorgt.
In Nairobi, Kenia, wurde die Solaranlage der Tangaza Universität fertiggestellt, ein weiterer Meilenstein in der Förderung erneuerbarer Energien für Bildungsstätten.

4. Einführung des Giving Fund

Gemeinsam mit der Trust Bridge und den Sinngebern haben wir ein neues globales Finanzierungskonzept entwickelt, um innovative Wege zur Förderung unserer Projekte zu erschließen.

Dieser Erfolg wäre ohne Ihre Hilfe nicht möglich gewesen. Neben all den anderen Unterstützern, gilt dem Erzbistum Köln ein besonderer Dank, insbesondere der Abteilung Weltkirche und Dialog unter der Leitung von Nadim Ammann und seinem Team. Ihre tatkräftige Unterstützung hat uns auch in diesem Jahr wieder ermutigt, neue Wege zu gehen und Projekte nachhaltig voranzutreiben.

Ebenso danken wir unseren Partnern und Kunden weltweit, die mit uns zusammenarbeiten, auf neue Projekte hoffen und uns ihr Vertrauen schenken. Besonders möchten wir an die Gemeinschaften in Jordanien, Libanon, Guatemala und Angola denken. Acting together: Solar systems for schools in Amman, Jordan

Dear supporters,

The Christmas season invites us to give hope and make sustainable change possible. With our project "Strengthening Access to Education through Renewable Energies in Jordan", we are starting exactly where support is urgently needed: by promoting school education and renewable energies in Jordan – and you can contribute to this.

Why this project?

Jordan is facing enormous challenges. As a place of refuge for numerous refugees, especially from Syria, the country is under a lot of social and economic strain. Schools are particularly affected: there is often a lack of sufficient financial resources to ensure a stable energy supply, appropriate learning environments and modern training opportunities. This significantly restricts the educational opportunities of many children.

Our solution

With our project, we are equipping 37 schools and Caritas Social Centers in Amman and other cities in Jordan with solar systems. These systems on the school roofs:

Provide a sustainable source of energy: Schools reduce their dependence on fossil fuels and save 420 tons of CO₂ annually.
Reduce operating costs: The savings allow schools to invest in building maintenance, air conditioning and learning materials.
Create jobs: Refugees take on important tasks such as cleaning and maintaining the facilities.

A first success: we have already secured €55,000 for the project, thanks to generous support from international companies and private individuals. But in order to fully finance the first phase of the project, we need a total of €275,000. Every contribution counts to achieve this goal.

Liebe Unterstützerinnen und Unterstützer,

die Weihnachtszeit lädt uns ein, Hoffnung zu schenken und nachhaltige Veränderungen möglich zu machen. Mit unserem Projekt "Stärkung des Zugangs zu Bildung durch erneuerbare Energien in Jordanien" setzen wir genau dort an, wo Unterstützung dringend gebraucht wird: bei der Förderung von Schulbildung und erneuerbaren Energien in Jordanien – und Sie können dazu beitragen.

Warum dieses Projekt?

Jordanien steht vor enormen Herausforderungen. Als Zufluchtsort für zahlreiche Geflüchtete, insbesondere aus Syrien, ist das Land sozial und wirtschaftlich stark belastet. Besonders betroffen sind Schulen: Häufig fehlen ausreichende finanzielle Mittel, um stabile Energieversorgung, angemessene Lernumfelder und moderne Ausbildungsmöglichkeiten zu gewährleisten. Dadurch werden die Bildungschancen vieler Kinder erheblich eingeschränkt.

Unsere Lösung

Mit unserem Projekt statten wir 37 Schulen und Caritas Social Centers in Amman und anderen Städten Jordaniens mit Solaranlagen aus. Diese Anlagen auf den Schuldächern:

We are pleased to present our first project in Egypt: the "Al-Baraka" farm in Shusha! This important project marks the start of our efforts to implement sustainable and socially responsible projects in Egypt as well. The farm, which is located about an hour northwest of Minia City and covers an area of 32 hectares, is a valuable property of the Diocese of Minya. ��

The goals of our local partner are very ambitious. They want to realize the full potential of the farm by cultivating additional mango and vines, investing in livestock, and introducing modern agricultural machinery. The "Al-Baraka" farm is intended to become a model for sustainable agriculture and at the same time bring social impact and environmental benefits. ��

The project is carried out through close cooperation with local partners and technical experts on site. Our commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices is at the heart of our efforts. The farm is to become a lighthouse project that inspires others to adopt environmentally conscious agriculture. ��

We are particularly proud that the re-payments from the "Al-Baraka" farm go to our innovative "Starkmacher Impact Revolving Fund". This fund ensures that the financing of further impact projects in the Global South is secured in the long term. �� Tangaza University: Impact^3 in action! Sustainable energy with social, ecological and financial impact

We are pleased to announce the completion of the first phase with the installation of 260 solar panels of our project at Tangaza University! �� In May 2022, we launched our vision and goals, and in June 2024, we successfully completed the installation of the photovoltaic panels on the roofs of the university.

Tangaza University College in Nairobi, Kenya, is a Catholic University college that has been offering a wide range of educational opportunities, from certificates to PhDs, since 1986. With over 2,200 students enrolled from over 50 countries and over 21,000 graduates, the university is a major educational centre. It reached another important milestone in May by obtaining the University Charter. This new achievement leads Tangaza University into a new era of service to the church and society. The installation of the solar panels is part of an effort to make the university more sustainable and ecological, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals ��

“Thanks to the support of the Archdiocese of Cologne and the cooperation with Starkmacher Impact, we were able to realize this project. The photovoltaic system will enable the university to achieve significant cost savings by meeting the energy needs of the Nuru and Imani buildings. This not only contributes to the university's energy independence, but also reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 86 tons per year”. (Fr. Maganya H. Innocent, Institutional Advancement and Development Director). ��

The savings can be used to buy more books and online journals, increase the scholarship fund and increase the food budget for students in need. This is a significant step in support of UN Sustainable Development Goals 4, 7 and 13, which focus on quality education, affordable and clean energy, and climate action. ��

Das Tangaza University College in Nairobi, Kenia, ist ein katholisches Universitäts-College, das seit 1986 eine breite Palette von Bildungsmöglichkeiten anbietet, von Zertifikaten bis hin zu PhDs. Mit über 2.200 eingeschriebenen Studierenden aus über 50 Ländern und über 21.000 Absolventen ist die Universität ein bedeutendes Bildungszentrum und hat im Juni auch einen weiteren wichtigen Meilenstein erreicht, nämlich die Erlangung der Universitätscharta, die die Tangaza University in ein neues Zeitalter des Dienstes an Kirche und Gesellschaft führt. Die Installation der Solarpanels ist Teil der Bemühungen, die Universität nachhaltiger und ökologischer zu gestalten. ��

"Dank der Unterstützung der Erzdiözese Köln und der Zusammenarbeit mit Starkmacher Impact konnten wir dieses Projekt verwirklichen. Die Photovoltaikanlage ermöglicht der Universität erhebliche Kosteneinsparungen, da der Energiebedarf der Gebäude Nuru und Imani gedeckt wird. Dies trägt nicht nur zur Energieunabhängigkeit der Universität bei, sondern reduziert auch die Treibhausgasemissionen um 86 Tonnen pro Jahr". (Fr. Maganya H. Durch die Einsparungen können mehr Bücher und Online-Zeitschriften gekauft, der Stipendienfonds erhöht und das Essen Budget für bedürftige Studierende aufgestockt werden. �� Solar Power and Education Promotion: In Northeast Brazil, we visited inspiring projects based on renewable energies that also improve educational opportunities.

Photovoltaic systems finance school fees, while the production of bricks from seashells not only provides affordable building material but also alleviates environmental impact. The solarization of a university in Recife demonstrates how sustainable technologies can shape the future. Our goal is to support projects that drive secure and sustainable change.

�� Water Management and Conservation: The Amazon, a paradise on Earth, yet facing significant challenges. Clean water is scarce, deforestation threatens biodiversity, and social development stagnates. Together, we discussed how incentives for change can be created. There are diverse solutions, from sustainable reforestation to alternative energy generation. Now it's up to us to implement these ideas with the active participation of all stakeholders on the ground.

♻️ Circular Economy and Plastic Recycling: Strolls along the beautiful tropical beach are marred by plastic waste washed ashore from the ocean. In discussions with the mayor, new forms of resource recovery were considered, creating jobs, promoting nature and tourism, and being economically viable (Impact3).

With a backpack full of impressions and agreed project plans, we leave Brazil, ready for the next phase of our commitment.

Eine erlebnisreiche Zeit in Brasilien liegt hinter uns. Unsere Gespräche waren wegweisend, darunter Treffen mit lokalen Gemeinschaften, Nichtregierungsorganisationen und Vertretern der Kirche.

�� Solarpower und Bildungsförderung: In Nordost-Brasilien haben wir inspirierende Projekte besucht, die auf erneuerbaren Energien basieren und gleichzeitig Bildungschancen verbessern.

Photovoltaikanlagen finanzieren Schulgebühren, während die Produktion von Backsteinen aus Muschelschalen nicht nur günstiges Baumaterial bereitstellt, sondern auch die Umwelt entlastet. Die Solarisierung einer Universität in Recife zeigt, dass nachhaltige Technologien die Zukunft gestalten können. Unser Ziel ist es, solche Projekte zu unterstützen, die einen sicheren und nachhaltigen Wandel vorantreiben.

�� Wassermanagement und Naturschutz: Amazonien, ein Paradies auf Erden, doch mit großen Herausforderungen. Sauberes Wasser ist knapp, die Abholzung bedroht die Biodiversität, und soziale Entwicklung steht still. Gemeinsam haben wir diskutiert, wie Anreize für Veränderungen geschaffen werden können. Es gibt vielfältige Lösungsansätze, von nachhaltiger Aufforstung bis zur alternativen Energieerzeugung. Nun liegt es an uns, diese Ideen in die Tat umzusetzen, mit der aktiven Beteiligung aller Betroffenen vor Ort.

♻️ Kreislaufwirtschaft und Recycling von Plastik: Spaziergänge am wunderschönen Tropenstrand werden vermiest durch Plastikmüll, was aus dem Ozean an die Ufer angeschwemmt wird. Im Gespräch mit der Bürgermeisterin wurden neue Formen der Rückgewinnung in Rohstoffe angedacht, die Arbeitsplätze schaffen, der Natur und dem Tourismus fördern und auch wirtschaftlich tragbar sind (Impact3).

Mit einem Rucksack voller Eindrücke und vereinbarter Projektpläne verlassen wir Brasilien, bereit für die nächste Phase unseres Engagements.

We are pleased to announce the establishment of our subsidiary NGO in Kenya. Our new organization, "Starkmacher Impact Africa," will establish a so-called "Giving Fund" to collect donations from companies and individuals to support socio-ecological transformation projects in the country.

The coordination of Starkmacher Impact Africa in Nairobi, Kenya will be led by Joseph Mwaura, an experienced expert in the field of development cooperation. Joseph has held various leadership positions in international NGOs in Kenya in recent years. He has a broad network of contacts in the Kenyan third sector and is familiar with the challenges faced by charitable organizations in the country.

"I am very pleased to be part of the Starkmacher Impact team and to lead the work of the new subsidiary NGO in Kenya," says Joseph. "I am convinced that with the Giving Fund, we can make an important contribution to strengthening the third sector in Kenya."

Starkmacher Impact Africa has already begun collaborating with associations and universities in East Africa. Together with the third sector, the NGO will identify projects that are particularly deserving of support for socio-ecological transformation.

Wir freuen uns, die Gründung unserer Tochter-NGO in Kenia bekannt zu geben. Unsere neue Organisation, "Starkmacher Impact Africa", wird einen sogenannten "Giving Fund" aufbauen, um Spenden von Unternehmen und Privatpersonen zu sammeln und sozial-ökologische Transformationsprojekte im Land zu unterstützen.

Die Koordination der Starkmacher Impact Africa in Nairobi, Kenia übernimmt Joseph Mwaura, ein erfahrener Experte im Bereich der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit. Joseph war in den vergangenen Jahren in verschiedenen leitenden Funktionen für internationale NGOs in Kenia tätig. Er verfügt über ein breites Netzwerk an Kontakten im kenianischen Dritten Sektor und kennt die Herausforderungen, denen sich gemeinnützige Organisationen im Land gegenübersehen, genau.

"Es freut mich sehr, Teil des Teams der Starkmacher Impact zu sein und die Arbeit der neuen Tochter-NGO in Kenia zu leiten", erklärt Joseph. "Ich bin überzeugt davon, dass wir mit dem Giving Fund einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Stärkung des Dritten Sektors in Kenia leisten können."

In 2023, we continued to drive forward our Starkmacher Impact mission and seized new horizons and opportunities in Jordan, Egypt, Rwanda and the Philippines. With these projects, we are also focusing on the impact3 principle: ecological change for social progress and successful investments as a bridge between investors and local communities. ��

Our ongoing social impact projects in Brazil and Kenya are developing in line with our plans and paving the way for a clean future combined with social impact. ☀️⚡️

With the establishment of local Starkmacher Impact branches in Brazil, Kenya and the Philippines, we have expanded our global presence, strengthened our local expertise and laid the legal foundation for our revolving fund models. Our membership of BIII (Bundesinitiative Impact Investing) enables us to network even better with other impact enthusiasts at different levels. ��

We have also continued to grow as a team and our strategy workshop in the second half of the year produced exciting new approaches that will help us to achieve our goals .

Im Jahr 2023 haben wir unsere Starkmacher Impact Mission weiter vorangetrieben und neue Horizonte und Chancen in Jordanien, Ägypten, Ruanda und den Philippinen ergriffen. SOCIAL IMPACT TRIP TO EGYPT

An inspiring week lies behind us, during which we expanded our local network in order to lay the foundations for future projects. Our discussions were groundbreaking, including meetings with the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES), the Latin Bishop for Egypt, representatives of the Ministry of Finance and international industrial companies.

�� Agroecology and Building for Impact: In the heart of southern Egypt, we visited two promising projects that embody the basic principles of agroecology. This is not just about sustainable agriculture, but also about building knowledge and communities to protect the environment. These initiatives are not only groundbreaking for the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals ( #UNSDGs ) and the 2030 Agenda for Egypt, but will also have a profound social impact.

Social-Impact-Reise nach Ägypten

Eine inspirierende Woche liegt hinter uns, in der wir vor Ort unser Netzwerk ausgebaut haben, um die Grundlage für zukünftige Projekte zu legen. Unsere Gespräche waren wegweisend, darunter Treffen mit der Deutsch-Arabischen Industrie- und Handelskammer, der Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), dem lateinischen Bischof für Ägypten, Vertretern des Finanzministeriums und internationalen Industrieunternehmen.

�� Agroecology and Building for Impact: Im Herzen des Südens Ägyptens haben wir zwei vielversprechende Projekte besichtigt, die die Grundprinzipien der Agroökologie verkörpern. Hier geht es nicht nur um nachhaltige Landwirtschaft, sondern auch um den Aufbau von Wissen und Gemeinschaften für den Schutz der Umwelt. Diese Initiativen sind nicht nur wegweisend für die Umsetzung der UN-Nachhaltigkeitsziele ( #UNSDGs ) und die Agenda 2030 für Ägypten, sondern werden auch einen tiefgreifenden sozialen Impact haben.

Wir sind motiviert und freuen uns darauf, diese Visionen Wirklichkeit werden zu lassen! ��

CONSTRUCTION OF 20 PV PLANTS IN THE GINETTA CITY DISTRICT IN BRAZIL COMPLETED

On our 2019 trip to Brazil, we as #StarkmacherImpact visited the Ginetta neighborhood in the city of Vargem Grande Paulista - SP. We were able to discuss initial ideas about #solarification with decision-makers to modernize this settlement through renewable energy and help the residents with the socio-ecological transformation.

We have not let the pandemic stop us from continuing to work on this dream and have built up a network that is working together to realize it. In 2021, experts were commissioned with the detailed planning and in 2022 we received the go-ahead from an investor.

At the beginning of 2023, we were able to admire the following video showing the construction of the 24 solar installations in the district.

Thanks to the local community for the pioneering work, thanks to the engineering firm for the implementation, thanks to all the supporters and #ImpactInvestors who made it financially possible. And now we are delighted that the energy savings are also promoting a social impact.

AUFBAU VON 20 PV-ANLAGEN IM STADTVIERTEL GINETTA in BRASILIEN ABGESCHOSSEN

Auf unserer Brasilienreise 2019, haben wir als @StarkmacherImpact den Stadtteil Ginetta in der Stadt Vargem Grande Paulista - SP besucht. Wir konnten erste Ideen über die @Solarifizierung mit EntscheidungsträgerInnen andenken, um diese Siedlung durch erneuerbare Energien zu modernisieren und den Bewohnern bei der sozial-ökologischen Transformation zu helfen.

Durch die Pandemie haben wir uns nicht aufhalten lassen weiter an diesem Traum zu arbeiten und haben ein Netzwerk aufgebaut, das gemeinsam an der Realisierung arbeitet. 2021 wurden Experten mit der genauen Planung beauftragt und 2022 haben wir das Ok eines Investors erhalten.

Anfang des Jahres 2023 konnten wir das folgende Video bewundern, das den Bau der 24 Solaranlagen im Stadtteil zeigt.

Danke an die Gemeinschaft vor Ort für die Pionierarbeit, Dank dem Ingenieurbüro für die Umsetzung, danke an alle Unterstützer und @ImpactInvestoren, die es finanziell ermöglichten. Und nun freuen wir uns, dass die Energieeinsparungen auch einen sozialen Impact fördern.

The second transnational meeting of the project "Social, Digital & Green - New Perspectives for consulting agencies to forster a Young & Impactful Economy in Europe" took place from April 20, 2023 to April 23, 2023 in Florence, Italy.

The specific aim was to get to know the networks of social entrepreneurs and stakeholders who work with social enterprises and to engage with them in order to concretely grasp the impact of environmental sustainability and digitalization in their own companies and/or within their companies.

SOLAR SYSTEMS FOR SCHOOLS & CHARITABLE INSTITUTIONS IN JORDAN

Starkmacher Impact is working in Jordan with Caritas Jordan and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH in the Project Development Program for the socio-ecological transformation of the third sector in Jordan via PV systems.

Today we had an important meeting with Hamzeh Yakhoul, CEM® from GIZ in Jordan, who explained to us the technical background of solar systems, especially in Jordan. His work will help us to design tailor-made offers for our customers, such as schools or social centers.

With the Jordanian Caritas Director Wael Suleman and his staff, we discussed a lean implementation structure for our social energy projects, especially in rural areas, and how the savings can also benefit the poor and needy students.

We are entering into discussions with other stakeholders with confidence.

SOLARANLAGEN FÜR SCHULEN & KARITATIVE EINRICHTUNGEN IN JORDANIEN

Starkmacher Impact arbeitet in Jordanien mit der Caritas Jordan und der Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH im Project Development Program für die sozial-ökologische Transformation des dritten Sektors in Jordanien über PV-Anlagen zusammen.

Heute hatten wir ein wichtiges Meeting mit Hamzeh Yakhoul, CEM® von der GIZ in Jordanien, der uns über die technischen Hintergründe von Solaranlagen speziell in Jordanien aufklärte. Seine Arbeit wird uns helfen, passgenaue Angebote für unsere Kunden, wie Schulen oder Sozialzentren zu entwerfen.

Mit dem jordanischen Caritas Direktor Wael Suleman und seinen Mitarbeitern ging es um ein schlanke Struktur der Implementierung für unsere sozialen Energie-Projekte, besonders in der ländlichen Gegend und wie die Einsparungen auch den Armen und hilfsbedürftigen Schüler:innen zu Gute kommen kann.

Wir gehen zuversichtlich in die Gespräche mit weiteren Stakeholdern.

EU-PARTNER IN MANNHEIM FOR "SOCIAL ECONOMY & SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP"

As part of an Erasmus+ partnership "SDG - CONFYI: Social, Digital & Green - New Perspectives for consulting agencies to forster a Young & Impactful Economy in Europe", the three project partners from Italy, Slovakia and Germany met in Mannheim in September 2022. The program included visits to the various Mannheim startup centers, such as S-Hub and Mafinex, and gave the participants the opportunity to discuss their needs and wishes for a consulting agency in contact with young entrepreneurs and social economists. The focus was on topics that will influence the future consulting activities of the partner organizations and the documentation that will help them with regard to the next steps and activities of the project.

Im Rahmen einer Erasmus+ Partnerschaft „SDG – CONFYI: Social, Digital & Green - New Perspectives for consulting agencies to forster a Young & Impactful Economy in Europe“ trafen sich im September 2022 die drei Projektpartner aus Italien, Slowakei und Deutschland in Mannheim. Das Programm beinhaltete Besuche in den verschiedenen Mannheimer Startup-Zentren, wie S-Hub und Mafinex, und gab den Teilnehmern die Möglichkeit, im Kontakt mit Jungunternehmern und Sozialökonomen ihre Bedürfnisse und Wünsche an eine Beratungsagentur zu diskutieren. Im Mittelpunkt standen Themen, welche die zukünftige Beratungstätigkeit der Partnerorganisationen beeinflussen und die Dokumentation, die ihnen im Hinblick auf die nächsten Schritte und Aktivitäten des Projekts helfen wird.
